Easter for Young Kids

     Have you taught your kids about Easter? We started doing our own egg hunt with Lucy when she was about 2 yrs. old Back then, we do not have any resources in our community or city that does Easter egg hunt. I'm sure there was some, I was just not that resourceful yet. This year we went to Ed Hales Park, it was a week early but the girls sure did had fun. We will still have our own Egg Hunt here at home though, it is one of those traditional things we'd love to keep doing with them.

    It is a little impossible to steer our kids away from the Easter Bunny, Chocolate filled Creme Eggs or the basket full of treats, they will be exposed to these anyway just take a trip to the grocery store. It is confusing for them too. As early as March, stores are already decorated and selling Easter candies, baskets, cute dresses. It is sadly commercialized ( just like Christmas I think). Instead of putting the focus on how Jesus saved us, stores may teach our kids about the coming of Easter bunny!

Teaching them what Easter is really about is what matters. A moderation on treats is OK, there is nothing wrong with that. It is also important to let our kids be kids. It is our responsibility as parents to teach them what Easter is about. There are a lot of ways to celebrate Easter, celebrating Jesus...His resurrection.

 Here's the craft that we made , an Easter egg tree paper craft .You can download this free printable at

We dyed eggs too. You can either use ( food safe) dye tablets or kool-aid ( just mix with 2/3 cups of water). You will also need several coloring cups, egg dipper and a clear/white crayon to write on your if you like and of course your hard-boiled eggs.

 We also have used this from the dollar store..

These are the baskets hubby and I have put together:

 Bible , books , toothbrushes, socks, pencil cases , a toy , and a single candy treat.

 and this is from their Grandma.. filled with socks , rubber duckies , wind up toys ( that they both love) , scented markers , a couple of treats for each.

As for the plastic eggs, we filled them up with hair ponytail holders and clips , fun and kid friendly necklaces , sticker and a few m&m treats.
